There are only 81 days to go until our very own Paul Staley takes on the Tower to Tower Challenge for the Donna Louise, a unique and gruelling event starting at The Eiffel Tower in Paris and ending 530km away, four days later at Tower Bridge in London.
Paul is hard at work training for this mammoth challenge, which you can see in his video diary. Over the past few years, Paul has taken part in many different activities to help SDL Group raise over £150,000 for the Donna Louise, but knows that the Tower to Tower Challenge will be much, much harder!
The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice is a registered children’s charity, caring and supporting children with life-limiting conditions and their families across Cheshire and Staffordshire.
Yesterday, at a special event at The Donna Louise, the rest of the event team was revealed, and it includes a few familiar faces. Ex-Stoke City Manager, Tony Pulis, has been a long-term supporter of the Donna Louise. Not only has he climbed Kilimanjaro and run the London Marathon but cycled from John O’Groats to Land’s End too! He’s even rowed from Tower Bridge to the Eiffel Tower – when the team encountered a force seven storm en route.
Former Stoke City footballer, Rory Delap, is also a member of the Tower to Tower team and is a long-standing supporter of the Donna Louise. Like Tony, Rory has also completed a John O’Groats to Land’s End bike ride, as well as a 202 mile bike ride from Newcastle upon Tyne to Edinburgh.
They join a 12 strong team of other local business people and celebrities, hoping to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for young people with life-limiting illnesses.
Paul has set up a donation page, which can be found here and is hoping to raise £20,000. This is a part of the Group’s wider goal of raising £150,000 over the course of 2018.
